Owala Bottles Are Lead Free. Always Have Been. Always Will Be.

There’s been a lot of media buzz about bottle safety. We’re here to reassure you that we’ve always been committed to consumer safety because all Owala bottles and tumblers—including the award-winning Owala FreeSip® water bottle—are and always have been lead free.

True to our goal of challenging the norm, we’ve used innovative, lead-free solder in our products from the very beginning—just one example of our commitment to prioritize your safety and well-being above all else.

The Stainless Steel FreeSip® water bottle shouldn’t be used with hot, carbonated, or perishable liquids. So just stick to water and hit that daily quota.

Stainless Steel

The lids are top-rack dishwasher safe and the straws can go in the silverware bin. While the cups are also technically dishwasher safe as well, we strongly recommend you hand-wash them to maintain that beautiful finish.

Eastman Tritan™ Plastic

All parts are top-rack dishwasher safe. Just throw them in and get back to relaxing.

Stainless Steel

The stainless-steel bottles should never be microwaved. And unless you want to end up on one of those “fail videos” on YouTube, we recommend you follow our advice.

Eastman Tritan™ Plastic

While the plastics used in Owala brand products are BPA- and phthalate-free, microwaving is strongly discouraged. Like, very strongly discouraged. The leak-proof seal can allow pressure to build up inside the bottle when heating, causing the lid or flip cap to open unexpectedly and spray contents.

So…just don’t go there.

In general, shipments in the United States take about 3-5 business days from the date of fulfillment. For a more specific answer, use the tracking number that was provided with your receipt.

Other than the coolest thing ever? The average person makes 35,000 decisions a day. That’s a lot. We figured we wouldn’t force you to make a critical decision like whether to buy a bottle with a wide-mouth opening or a straw—so we created the FreeSip® spout—a patented design that combines both.

You now have the freedom to drink from the built-in straw or the wide-mouth opening. You’re welcome.

Before you start sipping from your shiny new bottle, don’t forget to wash it! The lid is top-rack dishwasher safe, while hand-washing the cup is recommended to preserve its finish. Treat it right and stay away from harsh chemicals (such as bleach, abrasives, etc.).

Some other good-to-know things:

• Do not microwave, freeze, or boil.

• Not for use with hot, carbonated, or perishable liquids.

• Avoid accidentally opening the water bottle by keeping the button free and clear of other objects.

• Cover the button with the loop to help avoid accidental pushing of the button.

• When opening the water bottle, keep fingers away from the recess behind the spout cover.

Warnings

AKA things our lawyers asked us to put here. 

Drinking hot liquids presents a risk of injury. NOTE: Never use this product with liquids hot enough to scald as hot liquids can cause burns. 

The straw allows generous amounts of liquid to be drawn suddenly into the mouth from the bottom of the bottle where the temperature of hot liquids is usually higher than it is at the liquid's surface.

Hot, carbonated, and perishable liquids and other contents may build up pressure within the bottle and unexpectedly leak or spray out. Pressurized contents also may cause the spout cover to open rapidly enough to injure fingers positioned in or near the recess behind the spout cover. Always open carefully.

Yes, in October 2022 we made a small price increase on our products. Like many companies in the aftermath of the global pandemic, we’re experiencing significantly higher costs of materials, freight, tariffs, and labor. Because these pressures show no sign of easing up any time soon, we’ve had to increase our product prices. As always, we’re grateful for your support and thrilled to have you as part of the Owala family.

Our biggest and baddest size. You’ve been warned. 

• Designed for those extra tough gym sessions (especially those hot rooms), the Great Outdoors, and long work days.

• If refilling your bottle feels like a real chore, this one will keep you covered for hours.

• Can transport it with our carry loop or lovingly with two hands. 

• It’s hefty and a little heavy when filled, but think of the muscles you’ll build.

• Greatness like this can’t be contained, so cup holders are a no go. But it still loves riding shotgun in your backpack or gym bag.

A hydration heavyweight that’ll have you cheering. 

• A must-have if you love working out and need to stay hydrated. 

• Great for day hikes and camping trips. 

• Much less refilling to stay hydrated. Hooray!

• May involve more hand holding, but is that really a downside?

• Won’t fit in most car’s cup holders. However, with our no-leak lids, putting it in a bag is just as great of an option. 

Like the middle child… except it’s far too awesome to be forgotten. 

• Less refilling. That means more time sitting back and relaxing.

• Most people can hold it with one hand while sipping. 

• Fits flawlessly in car cup holders, making it a pretty great trip buddy. 

• Many of our fans say it’s not too big and not too small. A real Goldilocks kind of bottle.

It may be the smallest of the bunch, but it still packs a punch. 

• Can be stowed in a purse or small bag

• If you’ve got smaller hands, it’s easier to hold.

• A great option for your older kids. 

• If you want to stay hydrated (hint: you do), remember to refill this often.

How often do you shower? Daily seems like a good idea…but that’s up to you.

We’ve designed them to be as simple and easy to clean as possible. Best practices for cleaning each part vary though, so listen up!

Lids: All lids are top-rack dishwasher safe and designed for easy cleaning. Remove the spout gasket (by using the convenient pull tab) and clean separately. Use a sponge or straw brush to access the smaller spaces. If you soak the parts in distilled white vinegar beforehand, it will help breakup buildup in those little nooks and crannies. 

Straws: To remove the straw, just pull out and put in the dishwasher’s silverware bin.

Cup: If the cup is made of Eastman Tritan™plastic, feel free to put it on the dishwasher’s top rack. If it’s made of stainless steel, hand-wash with warm, soapy water.

Not a fan of a lot of scrubbing or just generally lazy about washing your bottle? Enter Ecobrite tablets. It’s the best way to clean your bottle without the work.

Stainless Steel: We’re assuming that if you want to freeze your bottle, it’s because you want your drink to be cold. But here’s the thing: our stainless-steel bottles are triple-layer insulated, which means that the liquids are insulated from the temperature outside of the bottle. So while the bottle is technically freezer safe, it’d be a whole lot easier to just drop a few ice cubes in the bottle instead. 

Eastman Tritan™ plastic:

We don’t recommend freezing plastic Owala bottles. Like most plastic bottles, ours may become brittle and more likely to crack or break when frozen. If you decide to ignore our wisdom and choose to freeze the contents, at least make sure you leave room at the top, and the lid open, as the contents will expand. (Thanks, elementary-school science).

We get it—mistakes happen all the time!  If you placed your order within the last 10 minutes, it’s possible that you can still make changes to your order by calling us within business hours. If it has been a little longer, chances are that your order is a little too far along the fulfillment process for us to make changes. What can we say… we move fast! We’re very proud of the quality and craftsmanship of our bottles and stand behind each bottle we manufacture. If you’re unhappy with your product, or if it has a manufacturing related issue, feel free to submit a warranty claim and our experts will carefully review your case. Click here to submit your claim. While we’ll be extra gracious with your claim, please be aware that there are certain damages we can’t cover. Some of these damages include: 

• Accidental damage

• Improper care or misuse

• Normal wear and tear

We accept all major credit cards. We also accept debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. No cash or check—unless you’re willing to make the trek to our headquarters, then we might be willing to make an exception.

While your new bottle might be a little sad about that, any unused Owala bottle in its original packaging can be returned for a full refund within thirty (30) days of the original purchase date. Once we receive your return, we’ll process your refund within 10 business days.
